AccessKit makes it easy to automatically register your BrightSign or other Mediaplayer, so forget hassling with BrightAuthor!
Before registering a BrightSign, make sure you have created at least one Exhibition and one Work assigned to that Exhibition. Their statuses may remain set to inactive/private at this stage.
New BrightSigns need to be registered with AccessKit. To do so, please follow these steps:
Click the BrightSign Script button on the top right of the AccessKit Admin Portal.
You will be prompted to save a file called autorun.zip. Save it to a convenient place on your computer's drive.
nb: if you need to use WiFi or static IP addresses, visit the networking documentation.
Make sure your BrightSign is running on OS 8 or higher, and is updated with the latest firmware.
After you have updated the firmware, format the BrightSign's storage device, typically a micro SD card.
Insert your SD card directly into your computer, and move autorun.zip onto the SD card. Do
not unzip the zip file, and make sure the filename is exactly autorun.zip
.
Safely eject your SD card.
Before powering on the BrightSign, connect it to a monitor and connect it to the internet via its ethernet port. The ethernet port it is connected to must be a live internet connection, not just a local network.
Insert your SD card into the BrightSign.
The BrightSign will now go through several boot cycles as it clears its registries and sets up local network diagnostic access. It will eventually attempt to connect to AccessKit for the first time.
Once it connects to AccessKit, it will display an ID number assigned to the player, as well as the player's local network IP address on screen.
Log into AccessKit's Admin Portal. The player should now be visible.
If any errors occur during this process, please follow the on-screen prompts. If errors persist, please contact the AccessKit team for additional assistance.
Once registered, you can configure the BrightSign to play a media file either by manually
copying a media file to player's SD card, or setting a media file URL which the player will
automatically download. To manually set a media file, remove your SD card from the BrightSign,
place an .mp4
or .mov
file (h264
encoding only) onto the SD card and re-insert it into the
BrightSign. Do not delete any of the other files on the SD card! When it powers up, it should
begin autoplaying the video file. To automatically download content onto the BrightSign without
removing the SD card, follow our Content Updating Guide.
